Industry Update
In October 1999, Australia Post introduced a bar coded mailing system which gives customers who use software approved under Australia Post's Address Matching Approval System (AMAS) access to the Postal Address File (PAF). The release of the PAF has brought significant benefits to the business community. These include faster and more accurate address capture, mail savings and the ability to identify an address via a unique Australia Post Delivery Point Identifier (DPID). The AMAS Project has served as a catalyst for the wide acceptance of Information Quality products and services. 2005 marked the introduction of the Geocoded National Address File (G-NAF). Intech Solutions products utilise the GNAF ARF to provide geographic coding and address validation of site addresses. During 2007, the Australian Bureau Of Statistics will finalise its definitions of the Mesh Block geographic boundaries, which will transform the building blocks of geographic based statistical and demographic information used by private industry for marketing purposes, and public sector for planning.
